Nigerian man on the run after stabbing a Ugandan woman in India

Nigerian man on the run after stabbing a Ugandan woman in India

Hennur police have launched a manhunt for a Nigerian man, identified only as Osas, for allegedly attacking 30-year-old Ugandan national Shakira Nsonko on February 10, in Bengalulu, India.
Osas, it is alleged, attacked her with a knife at an African eatery when she refused to pay for his drink. Hennur police have taken up the case under Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and Section 324 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon) against Osas, a resident of Kukkenahalli.

In her complaint, Shakira has stated that she was at the mess with a friend, Gifletin, when Osas asked her to buy him drinks. When she refused, he abused and slapped her, she has complained. To escape his continued assault, she locked herself in a room and called a friend, Tony. That did not deter Osas, who waited and slashed her with a knife when she ventured out of the room.

Passports and other documents of the two are being verified by the police. Consul of Rwanda, Mohan Suresh, who visited Shakira Nsonko, told Bangalore Mirror that he wanted to ascertain if she was from Rwanda. He said the two knew each other, and that she was an illegal immigrant from Uganda.

Meanwhile, DCP Satish Kumar informed media that Shakira initially claimed she was involved in an accident in which she got hurt. It was only after doctors at MS Ramaiah Hospital informed the police that the wound could be the result of stabbing that she revealed the stabbing.

Photos: Cameroonian troops hand over suspected Boko Haram terrorists to the Nigerian Army, hostages rescued

This is a statement issued by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman:
"The cooperation with our neighbours have brought renewed vigour and is yielding fruitful result in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists.
For instance, apart from recording tremendous success, troops of 26 Task Force Brigade, have married up with Cameroonian forces for joint operations in Kirawa junction.
Although they have not met any of the terrorists in the axis of advance, they rescued 8 men, 36 women and 68 children in the area.

To further consolidate on the cordial relationship, the Commander of Cameroonian 1st Battalion, paid courtesy call on his counterpart, the Commanding Officer of 121 Task Force Battalion in Pulka. The visiting unit assisted with the demining of a section of the road between Kirawa Junction to Pulka and handed over 2 suspected Boko Haram terrorists to the Nigerian unit.
Sadly however, one of the visiting unit’s vehicle ran into an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), buried along Pulka-Ngoshe road in which an officer and 8 of their soldiers sustained injuries.

Unfortunately, the officer died while being evacuated to Douala by air.
We wish to commiserate with the Cameroonian forces for the incident and the demise of the officer.

May his soul rest in peace and give his colleagues speedy recovery.
Similarly, troops of 113 Battalion on patrol to Ngwala cleared Boko Haram terrorists’ camps at Ngorta and Aritimie villages. The troops also came across the terrorists market at the area. However, on sighting the troops the suspected Boko Haram terrorists ran and abandoned their supplies.
The patrol also conducted cordon and search operations around Ngwala and recovered 2 pick up vehicles and 12 motorcycles belonging to the fleeing Boko Haram terrorists. The market has been closed indefinitely.
It is pertinent to report that troops morale in the theatre of operation is very high and they are ever determined to clear remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever they may be in the North Eastern part of our country.
Thank you for your kind and usual cooperation."

Man gets down on one knee as if to propose then asks his girlfriend to make him tea (photos)

Man gets down on one knee as if to propose then asks his girlfriend to make him tea (photos)

Cruel pranks abound but this one is sure to top the lot. For one bewildered girl, valentine couldn't have been more perfect when her boyfriend got down on one knee and whipped out a box, the moment almost every girl longs for, but the bloke then did something which would have been funny if it were not such a cruel prank, he asked her to make him tea.

Brad Holmes, 24 from Southampton, told his girlfriend Jenny Davies, 22, from Portsmouth, how happy she makes him. He can then be seen taking out a white box from his pocket in the footage which has been seen more than seven million times.

Jenny looks overcome with emotion as Brad goes down on one knee. But instead of asking her to marry him, he leaves her shocked by saying: 'Will you make me a cup of tea?'

Brad says Jenny forgave him 20mins later and he did get his tea. 'I grovelled for a bit and played it back to her and she saw the funny side. I got my cup of tea within 15 to 20 minutes.

'She was a bit annoyed about it but she knows what I'm like' he said.
The couple, who have been together for six months, can be seen sitting on the sofa with Jenny watching TV - and Brad flashes the white ring box at the camera without her spotting it.
He then gets up and positions his phone to film the moment, with Jenny asking: 'Why are you recording? What are you doing?'

Brad then gets down one knee and says: 'Basically, I'm a bit nervous. Give me your hand.'
Jenny can be seen taking his hand and looking emotional, putting her other hand to her head.
Brad says: 'You know you make me the happiest man in the world. I'm shaking but I love you to bits, you know that, right?
'I want you to make me the happiest man in the world. I have got a question to ask you.'
Brad has the small jewellery box in his hands and it's all too much for Jenny, who now has both hands to her mouth.
There's more suspense when Brad is unable to open the box.
But when he does, he asks: 'Will you make me a cup of tea?'
And instead of a big diamond ring, the box contains nothing more than a tea bag.
Jenny appears to be less than impressed - as she grabs the box and throws it to the floor.
She storms out of the room screaming: 'Are you f****** joking.
'You horrible little ****.'
Brad revealed he had told Jenny he will propose this year, which is why Brad said she 'genuinely believed it.'

He said: 'She knows it's coming but she doesn't know when.'
Jenny had it coming, knowing he will propose this year, she thought Valentine's day was just perfect for the occasion, Brad told her it wouldn't be on valentine and that calmed her down, but the guy had already set up for the cruellest valentine prank ever.
'I calmed down when he told me "I wouldn't do it like that".
'I was in my pyjamas sat on the sofa. I thought after I was glad it hadn't happened like that, not to be ungrateful' Jenny said

Although Jenny admitted she began to cry when Brad got down on one knee, but she said: 'Brad didn't mean to hurt or upset me in the video.'
Jenny described her ideal proposal as romantic and traditional and would be happy as long as Brad asked her nana and grandad, who she lives with, for permission first.
Since the video was posted, it has been viewed 7.7 million times on Brad's Facebook page.

Increased electricity tariff : Fashola appeals to Nigerians, says it's a bitter pill we must swallow

Increased electricity tariff : Fashola appeals to Nigerians, says it's a bitter pill we must swallow

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has appealed to Nigerians to accept the new increase in electricity tariff, saying it is a bitter pill we must swallow.

He made the appeal during the second monthly meeting with stakeholders in the power sector in Lagos‎ today February 8th
“Importantly, I understand that people who have been disappointed over a long time will feel a sense of concern that again tariffs have gone up. But the truth is that these tariffs ought to have been there from day one. I don’t know why the government of yesterday was not courageous enough to tell us this was the price. It is a painful pill that I must appeal that we swallow. It is like quinine and malaria. It’s painful; it’s not sweet, I know that, but I do it because we are not left with many choices. This is the first major decision in power that this administration has taken. There are other problems. I can only appeal for some understanding and some trust that we do this in the best interest of our country"he said

'When I was in prison, I had joy' - Obasanjo

While speaking at the 50th anniversary of the Bible Society of Nigeria held at the Muson Centre, Onikan, La‎gos, former President Obasanjo said that he had joy and maintained a bubbly ‎ disposition while he served his prison term during the Abacha era. Obasanjo was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1995 after he was convicted for his involvement in the plot to overthrow the late Head of State, Gen. Abacha. He was released after Abacha's sudden death in 1998 and became president in 1999.

"When I was in prison, I had joy. I was always bubbly, teaching and preaching to other prisoners. ‎It was because of the joy I had found in God, although it can be said to be abnormal that one is in prison and is happy. I was put in jail, even though I didn’t deserve it.” ‎he said

Richard Branson shares his beautiful love story as he celebrates 40th wedding anniversary

Richard Branson shares his beautiful love story as he celebrates 40th wedding anniversary

For Richard Branson, courting his wife was no walk in the park but his persistence finally paid off. Read about the length the founder of Virgin Group went to in order to impress his wife and get her to fall in love with him as they celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

"Forty years ago this Sunday, my life changed for the better, forever. On February 7th 1976 at our Virgin Records studio, the Manor, I experienced love at first sight upon meeting a blonde-haired, down to earth, Scottish beauty named Joan, who just happened to be making a cup of tea.

I generally make up my mind about someone within 30 seconds of meeting them, and Joan won my heart instantly. She was unlike any other women I had ever met. She was beautiful. She was bright. She was witty. She was down to earth. She was fun. And she had eyes made of magic. However, the feeling wasn’t immediately reciprocated. I had to work hard for her attention, and ultimately affection.

I found out that she worked in a bric-a-brac shop in Westbourne Grove called Dodo’s, close to our Virgin Records office on Vernon Yard, and I began to persistently hang around the shop – popping in to buy countless objects that I really didn’t need, and had no room for since I lived on a small houseboat. But it was worth it for many reasons; because I got to see Joan, and because one purchase – an old Danish bacon advertising sign with a caption that read: ‘Now, that’s what I call music’ – inspired the Now! CD compilations.

Eventually my courting paid off, and soon we were meeting up regularly; stealing 20 precious minutes at lunch, quarter of an hour before a meeting, or a few moments after she shut up shop. But our relationship wasn’t straightforward, and two years later, still determined to win her heart, I made a grand gesture.
Upon hearing that there was an island in the British Virgin Islands up for sale, I called the people selling it to enquire. As we were still in the early days of Virgin Records, I by no means had the cash to buy it. Luckily, the realtor didn’t know this and offered me an all-expenses paid trip to see the island that included a house and helicopter! I agreed to go on one condition – if I could bring a guest.

To my delight, Joan agreed to join me on the trip. Together we strolled around Necker Island and dreamed up plans for turning it into our home and a haven for musicians. Smitten with the unspoilt paradise, and keen to impress Joan, I offered the highest amount I could afford: $100,000. The realtor’s ‘discounted’ asking price was $6 million, so you can imagine the response I got. There was no laid-on helicopter on our return trip, and we hitch-hiked back to the airport!

A year went by and nobody else made an offer, so the owner, who was desperate to sell, finally agreed to a purchase price of $180,000. I begged and borrowed this money, and Joan and I made it our home and were married there 11 years later.

I don’t like to think what my life would be like had I not met Joan. She is the most amazing and supportive partner, wonderful mother to our two lovely children Holly and Sam, and perfect grandmother to our three beautiful grandchildren, Artie, Etta and Eva-Deia.

"Happy anniversary Joan. Forty years have flown by with you at my side. It’s been one big ridiculous adventure of fun, friendship and love. Thank you for making life extraordinary. Your eyes are still as magic as they were forty years ago!"

Secret Service call for the re-opening of Whitney Houston's death investigation

Secret Service call for the re-opening of Whitney Houston's death investigation

A former secret service agent has called for the re-opening of Whitney Houston's death investigation saying its the only way to solve the mystery behind her daughter Bobbi Kristina's eerily similar death

From The National Enquirer
John A. Carman, a former Secret Service agent, told The National Enquirer, “This smacks of a double cover-up!”
Meanwhile, this publication has also learned another investigator, Isaac Weishaupt, has determined there is enough “evidence” to show the deaths could be related in both circumstance — and motive.
Both deaths are linked by a combination of drugs and Bobbi Kristina’s abusive boyfriend, Nick Gordon, 25, who was either near or at both death scenes.
“Whitney Houston ends up dead in a bathtub, covered with bruises, under hinky circumstances,” declared John. “Three years later, (Bobbi Kristina) dies in a bathtub, also covered with bruises, under hinky circumstances.”
John, who has worked hundreds of drug cases, said to solve the case, detectives must reopen a Whitney probe.
“Whitney’s case was dropped by Beverly Hills cops who didn’t do a proper forensic investigation,” he charged.
“Her autopsy report had more questions than answers, and is frankly laughable as a legal document.”
